Egypt Discovers New Oil Field

22 August 2023

The Egyptian Ministry of Oil has officially announced the discovery of a fresh oil field located in the Gulf of Suez, boasting an initial production volume of over 2,500 barrels per day (bpd). The ministry shared this development through a statement posted on its official Facebook page (the mentioned platform is banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, and has been recognized as extremist).

"A well was successfully drilled using the newly established facility at the Geisum al-Shamali field. As a result, the well has commenced operations, yielding an initial production rate of more than 2,500 bpd," the ministry detailed.

Egypt is currently making significant strides in the development of its energy sector. In the latter part of the previous year, the country's ministry of oil unveiled the discovery of a total of 53 new oil and gas fields. These fields were located across various regions including the Western Desert, the Gulf of Suez, the Mediterranean Sea and the Nile Delta.
