Egypt Reports Delivery of 100,000 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Since October

12 February

Since October, Egypt has independently delivered at least  100,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly announced during a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in Dubai.

Madbouly stated, "Egypt continues its efforts to provide our Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip with the humanitarian aid they need:  130,000 tons of humanitarian aid have now been delivered there, with Cairo alone providing  100,000 tons." He further emphasized Egypt's commitment to achieving a ceasefire and finding a final solution to the Palestinian crisis through negotiations, underscoring the importance of the two-state principle as a means to deescalate regional tensions.

On February  9, Ahmed Fahmy, the spokesperson for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, clarified that the Rafah crossing had been consistently open throughout the escalation of tensions in the Gaza Strip, except for temporary closures necessitated by Israeli bombardments. He affirmed that  80 percent of the support provided to Gaza originates directly from the Egyptian Government, supported by contributions from humanitarian and civil society organizations within Egypt.
