Egypt Stresses Need to Avoid External Interference in Syria's Affairs

10 December

Egyptian authorities maintain that the political process in Syria must be led solely by Syrian parties without any external interference or attempts to exploit the country's current instability. This stance was conveyed by Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty during a phone call with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.

According to a statement issued by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Abdel Aty emphasized that the political process in Syria should remain a purely Syrian matter, free from foreign intervention or actions aimed at undermining Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Egyptian minister highlighted the importance of ensuring that the political process is inclusive, representing the diversity of Syrian society, and based on a comprehensive approach to restoring stability. Such an approach, he argued, would enable Syria to reclaim its role both regionally and internationally.

Both ministers agreed to continue their coordination on Middle Eastern issues, particularly concerning developments in Syria.
