Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip, according to Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, extend beyond the scope of self-defense. Shoukry expressed this viewpoint during a speech at a conference on the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave held in the French capital.
"The actions taken by Israel in Gaza goes beyond self-defense," the minister emphasized. He stated that Cairo aimed to counter and halt the unilateral policy toward Gaza during the sharp escalation of tensions around the Palestinian enclave.
Shoukry condemned "any efforts to create and impose a new reality in Gaza." The Egyptian foreign minister called for "an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Strip" and reiterated Cairo's stance that the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict "should be based on the concept of establishing two independent states."
