The Egyptian foreign ministry called in Sweden's Chargé d'affaires in Cairo to address the issue of Quran burnings. The ministry made this announcement on Tuesday through its Facebook page (which is banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, and recognized as extremist).
During the meeting, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Assistant for European Affairs Ihab Nasser conveyed Egypt's strong condemnation and complete rejection, both by the government and the people, of the repeated burning and desecration of the holy Quran in Sweden. The officials emphasized that Egypt had previously warned about the dangerous and negative consequences of such actions.
The Egyptian diplomat urged "the authorities in Sweden and other countries where similar incidents occur to take preventive measures and hold the perpetrators accountable."
