Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the strong bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the Russian Federation. He specifically highlighted collaborative initiatives such as the construction of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant (NPP) and the establishment of a Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal region. These remarks were made during a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev in Cairo.

"The Egyptian President conveyed his heartfelt regards to Russian President Vladimir Putin, commending the progress in bilateral cooperation and the growth in trade relations. He particularly highlighted our joint development endeavors, with a special emphasis on the construction of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant and the establishment of the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal region," stated Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian president, in a message shared on his Facebook page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia).

The post also mentioned that Secretary of the Russian Security Council Patrushev conveyed President Putin's warm regards to President el-Sisi while underscoring "Russia's high regard for enhancing relations with Egypt under the strategic partnership and cooperation agreement between the two nations."

The publication further noted that during the meeting, Patrushev provided el-Sisi with updates on "the recent developments related to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and Russia's recent international actions in this context." In response, the Egyptian leader reiterated Egypt's stance regarding "the importance of giving precedence to a diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine-Russia crisis and the necessity of supporting efforts for a swift political settlement of the conflict to preserve peace and security. He also emphasized the need to curtail the adverse impacts on the economies of developing countries, including food security in these nations."

The discussions during the meeting encompassed methods to bolster bilateral relations, alongside an "exchange of perspectives on regional and global matters of mutual interest."

The talks between Egyptian President el-Sisi and Russian Security Council Secretary Patrushev occurred with the participation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Head of Egypt's General Intelligence Abbas Kamel, and National Security Advisor to the Egyptian President Faiza Abou el-Naga.
