Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi intends to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the ambassador, the year 2022 is expected to be very rich in terms of Russian-Egyptian relations.
"In particular, Egypt will be the main guest of the 25th - anniversary - St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The president of ARE Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has already confirmed his intention to visit Russia to participate in this event," Borisenko said.
The ambassador also reported that in Cairo should take part in consultations of foreign and defense ministers of Russia and Egypt in the "2+2" format.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum has been conducted since 1997, and since 2006 it has been held under the patronage and with participation of the president of the Russian Federation. Earlier, the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov said in an interview to RIA Novosti that the city and the federal authorities are working on the agenda and plan of events for SPIEF on June 15-18, 2022.
