Embassy informed about the Russians in Iran

Russian citizens who are in Iran did ask the Russian Embassy for help in returning home because of the coronavirus, the press attache of the Russian diplomatic mission in Tehran Andrey Ganenko told RIA Novosti.


Earlier the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the formation of a list of Russians who need help to return from abroad. Registration of lists ends at 14.00 local time on March 26.


"Such Russians did not reach us. Plus, there is still regular air traffic with Moscow, " the diplomat said, in particular.


According to Ganenko, there are no cases of coronavirus infection among Russians in Iran.


Now, according to the Agency, there are between 800 and 850 Russians in Iran – those who live and work in the Islamic Republic and several students.


At the moment, more than 27 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Iran, of which about 2.1 thousand died.
