01 February 2022

The Afghan embassy in Moscow is functioning normally and sees no need for new Taliban (Taliban movement banned in Russia) employees, the Afghan diplomatic mission told TASS on Tuesday.

"At the moment, the embassy in Moscow is working as usual. All departments of the embassy (political, economic, cultural and consular) function as before with a full complement of experienced diplomats, specialists in their fields. There is no need for Taliban workers at the embassy, especially since the Taliban have no professional diplomats," the diplomatic mission's press service informed.

They added that the embassy continues to provide necessary services to citizens of Afghanistan, the Afghan diaspora and students studying in Russia.

Earlier, Special Representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan and Director of the Second Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov said that Russia does not exclude the possibility of Kabul to send a number of junior and mid-level diplomats to strengthen the staff of the republic's diplomatic mission in Moscow.
