Erdogan claims high level of trust with Putin

10 November 2022

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday of the high level of trust he has established with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"As I said before, this is a leadership policy. We realized the necessity of it with Mr. Putin. We could not have done it without the level of trust that we have between us. Respect for each other encourages us to take these steps. At this point, it works like this. The solidarity between us in the nuclear energy field - there will probably be a nuclear step in Sinop (construction of a second nuclear power plant in Turkey - TASS) - and the steps we are taking in the defense industry also contribute to respect for each other. We have successfully implemented them and are following them," the Turkish president said in Ankara before flying to Uzebkistan, answering journalists' questions about the possibility of extending the grain agreement.
