Erdogan to Address Gaza and Ukraine at NATO Summit

08 July

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to address the conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington, scheduled for July 9-11. According to a report by CNN TÜRK, Erdogan will hold discussions with leaders from other NATO member countries on the sidelines of the summit.

"The main topics in Erdogan's NATO portfolio are Israel's aggression in the Gaza Strip, the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, security issues in the Black Sea, and the situation in the Middle East," the TV channel reported.

Additionally, Erdogan is expected to emphasize counter-terrorism during his visit to Washington. He has consistently called for NATO's support in combating terrorism, particularly against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is designated as a terrorist organization and banned in Turkey. Erdogan has criticized Western countries, especially the United States, for providing logistical and other forms of support to the PKK and its affiliated National Defense Forces (NDF) in northern Syria.

Turkey, a long-standing NATO member, boasts the second-largest army in the alliance.
