Erdogan: Turkey will use Russian S-400 in case of attack

10 July 2019

Turkey plans to use S-400 anti-aircraft weapon system if the country comes under attack, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters.

"If we need to, we will have the right to use them. If someone attacks us, we will use these air defense systems. That's why we are making such an investment," Hürriyet quotes the Turkish leader.

Erdogan also said that Turkey intends to participate in the joint production of S-400.

According to Erdogan, this was agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the very beginning of their talks on S-400 deal.

Meanwhile, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 29 that the contract for the delivery of the S-400 systems to Turkey envisions partial technology transfer.
