Ex-President of Afghanistan and the Taliban will hold negotiations in Moscow

A group of Afghan politicians headed by ex-President of the Islamic Republic Hamid Karzai and Representatives of the Qatari Taliban office (banned in the Russian Federation) will hold talks in Moscow today. As the Special Envoy of the Russian President for Afghanistan, Director of the Second Department of Asia at the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov told the TASS, the parties will discuss ways to establish peace in Afghanistan on the fields of today's upcoming events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with Russia.

 

 


“Such a meeting will be held... We invited both the Talibans and Afghan politicians to a solemn meeting devoted to the centenary of establishing diplomatic relations. They have the right and desire to communicate after that, and they will have such an opportunity. I do not know whether it will be negotiations or just further discussion about how to establish peace in Afghanistan”, the agency quotes the diplomat.
