Exercises with participation of Russian servicemen started in Tajikistan

Exercises involving 1,000 servicemen started at the mountain ranges of the Russian military base in Tajikistan, the press service of the Central Military District reported.


"Tactical exercises involving 1,000 servicemen of motorized rifle units of the 201st Russian military base have started at the mountain ranges of Lyaur and Sambuli in Tajikistan. In the course of the exercises the personnel will have to practice defensive and offensive actions with the use of reconnaissance and firing complexes supported by artillery and army aviation," the report says.


The soldiers will also carry out live firing from all types of small arms, grenade launchers, as well as from the armament of combat vehicles at targets simulating tracked, wheeled vehicles and enemy manpower. To create a situation, as close as possible to the combat, static and dynamic targets of different types are used on the ranges, the Central Military District added.


The main purpose of the tactical exercises is to check the combat readiness of motorized rifle units, and their coherence in the performance of combat training tasks.


The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest Russian military facility outside Russia. It is located in two cities, Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defense, air defense and communications units.
