Turkey, Russia, and Iran could join efforts to address the Israel-Palestine conflict, drawing inspiration from the Astana format used in Syria. The involvement of China in this initiative is also seen as significant, according to the Turkish newspaper Aydinlik.
"Turkey, Russia, and Iran have the potential to come together and find a solution to the issue. However, expediting the process would be greatly aided by a shift in Turkey's policies regarding Ukraine and Syria," Mehmet Perincek, a Turkish historian and representative of the Homeland Party, said commenting on Ankara's proposal to establish a coalition of guarantor countries aimed at resolving the Gaza crisis.
According to his analysis, the world is currently experiencing a notable polarization, with Israel and its "Atlantic front" aligning on one side, while Eurasian countries constitute the other faction. He emphasized the significance of collaborative action between Russia and Turkey to counter Israeli and Western aggression. "The 'Atlantic front' is actively seeking allies, with the United States drawing Israel into its camp and attempting to rally European nations. Given this context, it would be a mistake for Turkey and Russia not to join forces. Additionally, China and Iran should be included in this concerted effort," the politician stated.
Negotiations in the Astana format have been ongoing since 2017, with participation from Russia, Iran, and Turkey as guarantor countries overseeing the settlement process in Syria. These negotiations involve representatives from both the Syrian government and opposition, along with the United Nations and observer countries.
