Experts in the tourism industry believe that after the resumption of direct flights from Russia to Cairo, it's possible to count on the planes to fly to the resorts of Egypt, ATOR reports.

Russia on Wednesday restored air traffic with the fifth country that was interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic: flights to Cairo started.

"According to ATOR sources, this winter season, the return of direct flights to the resorts of Egypt is possible. First of all, the air carriers themselves are interested in this. In conditions of closed borders, they urgently need year-round destinations with high traffic," experts say.

There is no doubt that Egypt can become the "savior" of the winter season for Russian tour operators. And in this case, there will be no less charters to Red sea resorts than there are to Turkish ones today. After all, in just a month since the resumption of air traffic with the tourist provinces of Turkey, 336 thousand Russians have already visited Antalya alone, the Association's experts noted.

Experts explain that the resumption of flights to the resorts of Egypt is beneficial for both airlines and travelers for several reasons. For carriers, until October 31, there are 50 percent discounts on take-off and landing operations at Red sea airports, discounts on ground handling are now 20 percent, prices for jet fuel are preferential, and procedures for issuing slots are simplified.

Foreign visitors arriving in the tourist provinces of the Red sea by direct flights are exempt from visa fees until the end of October. All you need to show at border control is a passport and a negative PCR test for the coronavirus.

"Tourists will also benefit from excursions, since you can visit the objects of Upper Egypt (the temples of Luxor and Aswan) until the end of October for half of their usual cost," ATOR said.
