According to the rating, the second most dangerous country in the world is Syria, which a year earlier occupied the first place of the index.
Violence in Afghanistan, Syria, and also in the Central African Republic, as noted, caused the largest economic losses in 2018 - 47%, 67% and 42% of GDP, respectively.
The safest country in the world is Iceland.
Russia in the ranking of 163 countries was on the 154th place.
The Global Peace Index is an index developed by authoritative sociologists and economists of the international group of experts of the Institute of Economics and Peace.
