The Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) together with the HSE School of Oriental studies held an online discussion on the topic "The Libyan crisis: current state and prospects for settlement".
Experts, as reported by the RIAC press service, discussed the ethnic and religious and tribal factors in the coordinate system of the political crisis, the role of Salafis, Sufis, radical forces, as well as clans and families.
Special attention was paid to the regional dimension of conflict, competition and external interference.
In addition, the participants presented their vision of the international dimension of the conflict (post-Geneva process, the UN, the EU and the African Union) and scenarios for the development of the situation.
