On February 26, Farit Mukhametshin, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World", met with Abdurahman Al-Ahmed, Ambassador of the KSA to the Russian Federation, at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The sides stressed the importance of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in February of this year.
Farit Mukhametshin informed the head of the diplomatic mission about the Group's activities and plans for 2021. One of the key topics of the discussion was the preparations for the next meeting of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World" in Jeddah (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) in October of this year. The topic "Russia-Islamic World: Dialogue and Prospects for Cooperation" was suggested as a topic for discussion at the plenary session.
The senator drew the ambassador's attention to the work started in the Federation Council on holding the World International Conference on Inter-religious and Inter-ethnic Dialogue in Russia in May 2022, and the Group is going to take an active part in its preparation.
In turn, the Ambassador stressed that Saudi Arabia highly appreciates the activities of the Group of Strategic Vision in the field of development of strengthening inter-religious and inter-civilization dialogue, and expressed readiness to actively assist it.
