First batch of Sputnik V vaccine delivered to Libya

The first batch of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V  against coronavirus has been delivered to Libya. The Libyan Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity announced this on Sunday.


The ministry said in a statement that the shipment "arrived at the airport of the country's capital, Tripoli, under the direct supervision of the Libyan Health Ministry." It says the Russian vaccine arrived in Libya "thanks to the efforts of new Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh".


The batch of Sputnik V that arrived in Tripoli, according to Libyan news portal Al Wasat, has been sent to the warehouses of the Ministry of Health.


According to the Libyan Ministry of Health, there are currently more than 160 thousand cases of coronavirus infection in the country, the number of deaths among patients with coronavirus is more than 2.6 thousand.
