17 May

At the XV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024," Adylbek Kasymaliev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasized the strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Speaking on the theme "Financial and Logistics Infrastructure of Russia and the OIC Countries," Kasymaliev underscored the deep trade and economic ties between the two nations.

Kasymaliev highlighted that Russia is one of Kyrgyzstan's main trade partners, alongside China and Kazakhstan. Over the past four years, mutual trade volume has doubled, with exports increasing by 2.7 times. In 2023, the trade turnover reached $2.9 billion. "Both Kyrgyzstan and Russia aim to increase this trade turnover to $5 billion, and all the potential to achieve this goal is in place," he noted.

Currently, about 800 enterprises with Russian participation operate in Kyrgyzstan. The cooperation is managed through an intergovernmental commission and the Kyrgyz-Russian interregional conference. Large infrastructure projects are ongoing, and collaboration between state corporations, particularly in the energy sector, is intensifying. One significant project under consideration is the construction of a low-capacity nuclear power plant in Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, investment cooperation shows positive dynamics, with Russian investments in Kyrgyzstan exceeding $147 billion in 2023.
