The level of food security in Russia is one of the most reliable in the world, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the plenary session of the Eurasian Congress.
He noted that Russia is ready to share its experience and best practices.
"The level of food security in our country is one of the most reliable in the world. In 2022, we reached the values reflected in the national doctrine, which was approved by Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," he said.
Mishustin clarified that Russia fully provided itself with grain, exceeding the targets twice, "that's more than twice for vegetable oil." "About one and a half [times] for fish, we achieved the target values for sugar, for meat, we reached very close to [the targets for] potatoes and vegetables," the head of the government listed.
Yesterday, Mishustin offered to form an emergency food fund of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), in case there is a need to stabilize the situation in this area. He specified that "in the current instability on foreign markets [we] consider it necessary to create a full-fledged system of operative monitoring of food security across all the countries of the 'five'". In general, he called building up the "unique agro-industrial potential" of the Eurasian Economic Union a topical issue.
