The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia published a report on Main foreign policy results of 2019, which notes that in 2019, "Russia's foreign policy efforts focused on de-escalating international tensions and building up diverse cooperation with those countries and associations that showed a reciprocal readiness to develop relations based on mutual respect and consideration of interests".
"The policy was aimed at ensuring the rule of international law and maintaining the central role of the UN in world politics, searching for peaceful solutions to conflict knots and avoiding confrontational scenarios, including with regard to North Korea, Iran and Venezuela. Special attention was paid to strengthening collective security through the CSTO, promoting economic integration in the EEU format and ensuring Russia's participation in the Group of twenty, BRICS, SCO, the Arctic Council and other promising multilateral associations. The Russian initiative to form the Greater Eurasian Partnership has been established as a conceptual basis for long-term political and diplomatic work", the report reads.
