On August 9, Astana will host the 6th consultative meeting of Central Asian leaders. The same day was also slated for the inaugural summit of the "Central Asia + Japan" dialogue. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was scheduled to visit Kazakhstan on August 9-10 for this summit. However, Kishida has canceled his tour of Central Asia and Mongolia due to concerns over a potential powerful earthquake in Japan.
