Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had talks with Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The Foreign Ministers discussed the full range of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, and exchanged views on the most pressing international issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
At a press conference following the talks, Sergey Lavrov said that Russia and Bahrain" have outlined steps to reduce tensions in the Middle East and North Africa." Special attention was paid to the Syrian problem, the Palestinian-Israeli settlement and the situation in the Persian Gulf.
As for the Arab-Israeli settlement, the Ministers noted the common positions of Russia and Bahrain on this issue and stressed that only direct negotiations can resolve the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
