Foreign ministers of Russia and Lebanon exchanged congratulatory messages on the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil exchanged congratulatory messages on the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

 

 

 

According to the press service Russian MFA, the diplomats confirmed the mutual attitude for further strengthening cooperation.

 

 

 

"The ministers expressed satisfaction with the traditionally friendly Russian-Lebanese relations, confirmed the mutual attitude for stepping up bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues for the benefit of the people of both countries and in the interests of maintaining security and stability in the Middle East," reads the message.

 

 

 

In 1943, the USSR was the first country to recognize the independence of Lebanon. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in August 1944.
