Russia appreciates the efforts of the Azerbaijani authorities to support the teaching of Russian in the Republic, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told the first Deputy Director-General of TASS Mikhail Gusman.

There are about 300 Russian school in Azerbaijan. Each school has "Russian sectors" where the Russian language is taught. We express our gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan for such attention to the preservation of the Russian language," he said.

Rudenko stressed that efforts should be made to preserve the status of the Russian language as a means of interethnic and interstate communication. "This direction will continue to be one of our key vectors of development and as one of the most important elements of soft power," the diplomat said.

According to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, the measures taken by the Russian government in this direction are quite significant. "Maybe they are not so visible, maybe our failure is that we do not advertise and promote them enough, but nevertheless, work is being done through the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Rossotrudnichestvo. The new head of the Agency, Yevgeny Primakov, gives priority to the Russian language in his reformatting program in this area, " he said.
