Foreign Ministry: New Regional Cooperation Council to Enhance Ties with CIS

13 June

The newly established Regional and Municipal Cooperation Council will actively foster ties and promote mutual interests between Russia, the CIS, and EAEU member states. This initiative was highlighted by Areg Aghasaryan, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, during a press conference at TASS on the topic "Regional and Municipal Cooperation Council: A New Platform for International Dialogue."

"Our objective is not merely to establish communication and organize various platforms and formats, but to advance the mutual interests of Russia, CIS, and EAEU member states," Aghasaryan stated.

He emphasized that developing additional multi-vector people-to-people diplomacy allows for "forming new humanitarian contacts between people and representatives of different nations." Aghasaryan noted that this municipal format of cooperation between countries has significant potential and is aimed at strengthening interactions not only between federal centers but also among peoples inhabiting smaller regional centers.

"The development of this unique diplomacy will enable the building of trusting ties between the younger generations of our countries and promote new ideas, shifting slightly from traditional diplomacy towards public and people-to-people diplomacy," Aghasaryan concluded.

The Council for Regional and Municipal Cooperation is a new international initiative designed to enhance cooperation between Russia and CIS countries, with a particular focus on regional integration and cultural exchange.
