Foreign Ministry: relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are a strategic partnership

03 April 2020

April 4 is traditionally the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Over a short period of time, by historical standards,  it became possible to create a solid foundation for the Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership, which contributes to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told Moscow-Baku news agency.

"Relations between Moscow and Baku are based on the principles of sovereign equality, non-interference in internal affairs, genuine respect for each other's interests, and preserving and enhancing the traditions of friendship and good-neighborliness. Today, Russia and Azerbaijan closely and actively cooperate in political, trade, economic, humanitarian and other spheres. An open and trusting dialogue between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gives a powerful impetus to this," the diplomat said.
