Former Tunisian Prime Minister Rachid Sfar has passed away at the age of 89. The news of his death was reported by the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency on Friday.
Rachid Sfar had a distinguished political career, achieving prominence during the tenure of Tunisia's first president, Habib Bourguiba, who ruled from 1957 to 1987. Sfar held various significant positions in the government, serving as Minister of Industry, Defense, Health and Economy during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1986-1987, he assumed the role of Prime Minister of the Republic.
Sfar's funeral will take place on Friday in his hometown of Mahdia.
