In Karachay-Cherkessia, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region, 19 followers of the terrorist organization banned in Russia, At-Takfir wal-Hijra, were detained, the FSB reported.

The FSB's Center for Public Relations (CPR) noted that in addition to propagating ideology and recruiting new supporters, the radicals were planning to carry out terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation suppressed the activities of an interregional extremist community banned in Russia (decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of September 15, 2010. No. ГПИ10-848) of the international Islamist organization At-Takfir wal-Hijra, whose ideology - "takfirism" (accusation of "unbelief") provides a theological justification against "infidels," including Muslims, as well as the need for a theocratic Islamic state - "caliphate," the FSB Center for Public Relations (CPR) told journalists on Wednesday.

During searches in the places of residence and safe houses of the detainees, more than 40 copies of extremist materials were taken away and a cache with an RPK machine gun, an AKM assault rifle, cartridges and improvised explosive devices with a total weight of more than 3 kg of TNT including a so-called "suicide belt" with shocking elements was found in a forest in Karachay-Cherkessia.

The detainees were charged with organizing and participating in the activities of an extremist organization, 10 organizers and active participants of the extremist organization were arrested.

The CPR reported that based on the results of the examination of the seized means of destruction it is planned to further qualify the actions of the extremists.
