Further liberalisation of the visa regime announced by Russia and Turkey

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin announced further liberalization of the visa regime between the two countries at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

 

 

«We intend to consistently work to liberalize the mutual visa regime. In particular, the issue of abolishing visas for professional drivers will be resolved in the near future», the head of the Russian state, pointed out.

 

 

Putin also recalled that Turkey is one of the most popular tourist destinations among Russians. For example, in 2018 ranked the first place in the number of foreign tourists in Turkey - 6 million Russian citizens visited the country.

 

 

According to Putin, the full transition to a visa-free regime between Russia and Turkey will depend on the situation in Syria, and therefore Moscow and Ankara intend to facilitate the early launch of the Syrian constitutional committee.
