G20 leaders adopted a joint statement following the emergency summit

The G20 leaders adopted a joint statement following an emergency summit on the coronavirus situation. According to the Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the G20 expresses its readiness to do whatever it takes to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.


It is noted that the countries "are determined to spare no effort in order to protect lives, preserve jobs and incomes of people, and provide assistance to all states in need of support".


In particular, the summit participants agreed to allocate funds to the world health organization, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to fight the pandemic.


In addition, the G20 leaders pledged to do everything possible to minimize the economic and social damage from the pandemic, restore global economic growth, maintain market stability and strengthen the ability to recover.


The corresponding action plan will be developed by the Finance Ministers and the heads of Central bankers of the G20 countries.


The initiator of the emergency summit in online mode against the background of the global coronavirus pandemic was Saudi Arabia, which this year chairs the G20.
