08 November 2023

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, who presided over the G7 meeting of foreign ministers, stated at the concluding press conference that the G7 nations firmly uphold the "two states for two peoples" principle as the sole viable foundation for addressing the Middle East conflict.

"We firmly believe that upholding the principle of 'two states for two peoples' is the exclusive and indispensable path to resolve the conflict," she stated. Kamikawa highlighted that, following the Tokyo meeting, the G7 delegates successfully reached a consensus on a unified document addressing the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Kamikawa also stated that the G7 condemns "Hamas attacks on Israel, calls for the immediate release of all hostages, and supports the implementation of a humanitarian ceasefire."
