24 November 2021

During the plenary session of the GSV "Russia-Islamic World", Emir Khaled Faisal, advisor to the Custodian of the two holy mosques and Governor of Mecca, said that Russia and the Islamic world are facing modern challenges together. "Our kingdom plays a special role in spreading the principles of mutual understanding and coexistence between representatives of different religions. We intend to continue to make the necessary efforts for the noble goals of confronting conflicts and differences for the sake of tolerance and understanding in society," the governor added.

It should be noted that the diplomatic relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia have a 95-year history. In recent years they have been developing more and more rapidly and fruitfully. "The signing of agreements devoted to various aspects, bilateral meetings - we spare no effort to develop relations, actively participate in various initiatives aimed at the benefit of both countries. Our dialogue with Russia is based on the principle of non-interference in each other's internal affairs in order to contribute to the strengthening of a new international order, which is based on international law for the benefit of all peoples of the earth," emphasized Faisal.

Russia's involvement in the affairs of the Muslim world contributes to the strengthening of relations between religious and secular organizations, the governor of Mecca is convinced. In his opinion, only together Russia and the Islamic world are able to confront many dangerous challenges in today's world.
