Group "Russia - Islamic World" to award a special prize within the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival

22 July 2020

The Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" continues its active cooperation with the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, which this year will be held in a closed format. The special prize "For the dialogue of cultures in the Islamic world" established by the Group, which includes a monetary reward of 300,000 rubles, will be awarded to one of the films included in the special program "Russia - Islamic world".

According to film critic Sergei Anashkin, the program "Russia - Islamic World" consists of films that were produced in countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: "The religious aspect in the selection was not decisive. Among the heroes are people of different faiths, representatives of religious and ethnic minorities. Many of the pictures were made in co-production with European or Asian partners. When composing the program, it was decided to abandon the thematic and stylistic uniformity, and we wanted to present films of different genres from OIC countries.

The films of the "Russia - Islamic World" program are united by the same motif, which was clearly indicated in the main competition - the theme of dialogue of cultures.

The Kazan International Muslim Film Festival has been held since 2005. The motto of the festival is "Through the dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue". The festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Muftis Council, the Executive Committee of the Kazan Municipal Entity, and Tatarkino, the state budgetary cultural institution of the Republic of Tatarstan, with the participation of the regional branch of the Russian Federation Union of Cinematographers in the Republic of Tatarstan.  The partner of the festival is the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" for many years. The festival is supported by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
