GSV delegation attends World Islamic Economic Forum in Malaysia

A delegation of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" made a working visit to Malaysia. As part of the visit, Deputy Chairman of the Group, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Farit Mukhametshin met with Chairman of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Syed Hamid Albar. 


Representatives of the GSV also took part in the events and round table of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), which was held in the Malaysian state of Penang. On the margins of the forum, Farit Mukhametshin met with high-ranking Malaysian government officials: Ismail Bakar, Chairman of the Malaysian Islamic Bank, Syed Hamid Albar, Chairman of the WIEF, Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Secretary-General of the WIEF, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Malaysian Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin.


During Mukhametshin's conversation with Albar, the parties discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the Group of Strategic Vision and the WIEF Foundation in terms of establishing interaction between the WIEF and the International economic summit "Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit". The parties discussed the development of Russian-Malaysian relations and establishment of contacts at the level of the expert community in matters related to the Islamic economy and finance, as well as the establishment of a system of Islamic banking in Russia and development of legislative initiatives in this area. 


The delegation of the Group of Strategic Vision also included Gazinur Bakirov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Insaf Galiev, First Deputy Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, Alina Ravzutdinova, Program Director of the International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: Kazansummit", and Airat Akhmetov, Head of International Relations of the Group of Strategic Vision.
