Gulf Foreign Ministers to Convene on October 17 to Discuss the Gaza Situation

The member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will convene an extraordinary meeting at the level of foreign ministers on Tuesday, October 17, to address the situation in the Gaza Strip in light of the escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as announced by the secretariat of the regional organization.

 

"His ExcellencyJassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General, has announced that the 43rd Extraordinary Session of the GCC Council of Ministers is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in the city of Muscat. The meeting will focus on the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip," stated a release published on the organization's secretariat website.

 

Al-Budaiwi specified that the meeting was organized at the request of Oman, which currently holds the GCC presidency. During the extraordinary meeting, foreign ministers from member states of the organization will conduct consultations regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip and Israel's actions.

 

In addition, a meeting of the executive committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the foreign ministers' level is scheduled for Wednesday in the city of Jeddah. The primary focus of this meeting will be the situation surrounding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
