10 January 2023

The hajj quota for pilgrims from Russia to Saudi Arabia in 2023 will be 25,000 places. The volume of quotas has reached a pre-pandemic level, the press service of the Religious Board of Muslims (DUM) of Tatarstan said on Monday.

"An agreement on the 2023 hajj season for Russian Muslims has been signed between Russia and Saudi Arabia. The agreement specifies that the hajj quota for Russian Muslims in 2023 will be 25,000 places. Thus, the volume of quotas for the hajj is returned to the pre-pandemic level," says the report.

It is noted that the age restrictions for pilgrims were removed, introduced last year, in connection with the sanitary-epidemiological situation in the world.

The press service specified that in 2020 the total number of quotas was 3 million places, for Russia - 25 thousand places, for Tatarstan - 1.8 thousand.

"In 2022, 810 Tatarstanis went to hajj. Quotas for the implementation of hajj vouchers in 2023 among the muftiyats and coordination centers of Russia will be distributed later," the press service reported.

Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat Samigullin and Head of the official hajj operator in Tatarstan "DUM RT Hajj" Ranis Hazrat Vakhitov take part in the Russian hajj commission's conference of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia. The meeting takes place in Jeddah January 9-12, 2023.
