The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the militant wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, announced that they have destroyed three Israeli army tanks in western Gaza City.
"The [Izz ad-Din] al-Qassam Brigades destroyed three Israeli tanks, an armored personnel carrier, and a bulldozer on the outskirts of the al-Shati refugee camp using al-Yassin 105 shells," stated the group in its Telegram channel. The al-Shati camp is situated near the Mediterranean coast in western Gaza City.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen reported that intense clashes between Hamas fighters and the Israeli military were occurring in southern Gaza City. Israeli newspaper Haaretz claimed on Monday that ground units of the Israeli army might enter the densely populated Gaza City within the next 48 hours. Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari stated on November 5 that the military had "surrounded Gaza City."
