The Palestinian movement Hamas asserts that Israel’s increased pressure on Palestinians and the rising tensions in the West Bank are aimed at forcibly relocating the population to neighboring Jordan, Abdel Hakim Hanini, one of the leaders of the movement, said.
“The clear goal of the escalation and heightened tension [by Israeli authorities] in the West Bank is to expel Palestinians to Jordan, just as they [Israeli authorities] attempted to deport residents of the Gaza Strip to Egypt,” said Hanini, according to Hamas' Telegram channel. He emphasized that “this was not achieved in Gaza and will not be achieved in the West Bank due to the resilience and resistance of the Palestinian people.”
Hanini believes that “the crimes of the [Israeli] occupying authorities in the West Bank, along with the aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, will not disrupt Palestinian unity, despite [Israel's] support from the US and international silence.” He further asserted that this “encourages [Israel] to continue its military actions.”
