The Palestinian organization Hamas has reached out to Russia, Algeria, and China, requesting assistance in mediating the Gaza conflict and brokering a ceasefire agreement with Israel, Hamas political bureau member Osama Hamdan confirmed, as reported by Lebanon's Al Mayadeen television.
“We have asked Russia, China, and Algeria to exert efforts to halt [Israeli] aggression against Gaza,” Hamdan stated. He emphasized that the visit of Hamas representatives to Moscow is part of broader efforts to end the hostilities in the Palestinian enclave.
Hamdan noted that negotiators have informed Hamas of potential opportunities to advance dialogue with Israel. However, he clarified that Hamas “has not changed its stance.” According to Hamdan, the Hamas delegation has traveled to Cairo to review the proposals put forth. At this stage, Hamas “does not accept any partial agreements,” he added.
Negotiations regarding a Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages are ongoing, with mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. Despite several rounds of consultations since August, the parties have yet to reach a consensus on key terms of the agreement.
