The Palestinian movement Hamas has received a response from Israel regarding its proposal to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the politburo of the organization, stated in its Telegram channel.
"Hamas received an official response today from the Zionist occupier (Israel - TASS) regarding the movement's initiative, which it presented to Egyptian and Qatari mediators on April 13. The movement will analyze this [Israeli] proposal and will respond after completing its review," al-Hayya said.
On April 13, Hamas handed Egyptian and Qatari negotiators a response to the Israeli proposal received on April 8 to resolve the situation in the Palestinian enclave. The movement reiterated its demands, which include a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, and the return of displaced individuals to their permanent residences. Hamas also emphasized its readiness to negotiate a serious and practical deal to exchange hostages held in the enclave for Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails.
Al-Qahira al-Ikhbariya reported on April 26, citing a source, that the Israeli side informed the Egyptian delegation, which arrived in Tel Aviv to mediate Israel's talks with Hamas, that the Palestinian movement "should seize the last chance to reach ceasefire agreements" in the Strip before the Israeli military operation near the southern Gaza town of Rafah.
Israeli officials, according to the source, believe Egypt "will need to exert pressure on Hamas" for them to take advantage of the opportunity.
