06 September 2023

Achieving sustainable growth in the Southeast Asian region is contingent upon Russia's active participation in both regional and global endeavors, Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russian Federation-ASEAN Business Council, said during the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum in Jakarta.

According to him, practical accomplishments related to the objectives discussed during the forum, as well as sustaining robust growth rates in the region, depend on Russia's active involvement in both regional and global affairs. He highlighted that the concept of the Greater Eurasian Partnership, initially proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin well before the onset of global political and economic challenges, received significant recognition and appreciation at this high-level forum.

In a similar vein, Polyakov highlighted that during the forum, there was resonance with the theses put forth by the heads of the World Bank (WB) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) regarding the importance of existing systems being complementary and compatible. He pointed out that the universality and significance of the Greater Eurasian Partnership concept, coupled with Russia's effective efforts in countering international terrorism and its fruitful engagement in formats such as BRICS and BRICS+, have become increasingly evident to numerous global leaders. Ultimately, key speakers at the forum acknowledged Russia's pivotal role across various dimensions in shaping a new international relations framework, as well as the visionary leadership of the Russian President.

He also highlighted that the forum voiced the messages by leaders from the World Bank (WB) and the World Economic Forum (WEF),  emphasizing the importance of making existing systems complement each other and work compatibly. "An expanding circle of global leaders is recognizing the widespread applicability and significance of the Greater Eurasian Partnership concept, as well as Russia's tangible achievements in countering international terrorism and its productive contributions within formats like BRICS and BRICS+. This recognition underscores Russia's pivotal role across numerous dimensions in shaping a new framework for international relations, demonstrating the visionary leadership of the Russian President," Polyakov pointed out.

The ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum, themed "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth," convened political leaders representing ASEAN member states, Australia, Canada, and Japan. Additionally, it attracted top executives from major multinational corporations and leaders of organizations like the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Bank (WB), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
