President of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan thanked Russia and Vladimir Putin for the assistance in the ceasefire and ending the war.
"Thanks to the efforts and actions taken by the highest leadership of the Russian Federation, it was possible to stop the bloodshed in the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict zone. We express our gratitude to the Russian Federation and special thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the mediation efforts to stabilize the situation and assistance in the ceasefire and the end of the war, the restoration of peace and stability in our region," Harutyunyan wrote on Facebook.
In his words, the Russian peacekeepers have become "an important stabilizing factor". Harutyunyan added that effective cooperation has been established with the Russian contingent led by Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov.
"Fulfilling the main tasks of maintaining peace, stability and security of our citizens requires high professionalism and steadfastness of the peacekeeping contingent personnel, which sometimes involves a risk to life. On behalf of our people, I would like to express gratitude for the work done and efforts made to stabilize the situation, create favorable conditions for establishing and maintaining peace, solve various tasks," the Karabakh leader noted.
He also separately thanked Russia for a "not indifferent attitude" to the destiny of Karabakh residents, humanitarian aid and participation in the restoration of the republic.
Harutyunyan added that Russian servicemen accompany returning refugees and provide security for humanitarian convoys.
