Head of MES named the main task of humanitarian operation in Karabakh

The main task of the humanitarian operation in Nagorno-Karabakh is the soonest restoration of peaceful life, said Russian Emergencies Ministry head Yevgeny Zinichev during his working visits to Azerbaijan and Armenia.


"The main task of the ongoing humanitarian operation is the restoration of peaceful life in the region as soon as possible. It is very important for us to have relevant and reliable information about the real needs of Nagorno-Karabakh in order to minimize the possible negative consequences for the population. For its part, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly enters working groups to assess the state of infrastructure of Nagorno-Karabakh and its needs," Zinichev said in a report of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.


It is specified that the head of Russian EMERCOM in Azerbaijan met with President Ilham Aliyev and EMERCOM Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov, and in Armenia - with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and EMERCOM Minister Andranik Piloyan.


"During the meetings, the sides noted that the work between the agencies is based on bilateral agreements between the governments of the states in the field of prevention and elimination of emergencies," the report adds.
In addition, the parties thanked each other for the assistance in the work of the International Humanitarian Response Center and expressed confidence in further cooperation.


Zinichev also said that by the present time about 300 tons of humanitarian cargoes were delivered to Nagorno-Karabakh by trucks, and also the humanitarian demining unit of the Russian Emergencies Ministry was redeployed. In addition, nearly 1,200 tons of humanitarian cargo have been delivered by rail.
