Head of National Accord of Libya: Libya will continue contacts with Russia

18 November 2019

Tripoli intends to continue contacts with Moscow for the implementation of the existing and conclusion of new agreements, head of the Government of National Accord of Libya Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj said in an interview for RIA Novosti.

"We intend to develop and implement the agreements that were concluded between the countries earlier, and update them in accordance with current needs," the agency quoted the diplomat as saying.

Al-Sarraj also told about the situation in the country. According to him, there are signs of the end of the war in Libya, in connection with which he urged the parties to the conflict to return to a political settlement.

After the overthrow and death of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, a dual power has been established in the country - the Eastern city of Tobruk is controlled by the Parliament, elected by people, and the capital city Tripoli is under the Government of National Accord of Libya, which was created with the support of the UN.
