Head of Russian Muslims in an emergency appeal urged to be vaccinated

21 January 2022

Mufti Ravil Gaynutdin, head of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, made a statement Thursday at the Cathedral Mosque in Moscow about the need for vaccination against the coronavirus.

"I urge all of you to be responsible and go and get the necessary vaccination," Gaynutdin said.

Mufti noted that the Prophet Muhammad taught not to harm yourself or others. "He showed by his example: life and health are a gift of the Almighty, which must be taken care of. We must follow this noble call," the mufti said.

According to him, humanity is going through a difficult moment today. "Right this minute, tens and hundreds of thousands of people are in intensive care units, they are someone's parents, children, wives and husbands, loved ones. In such a situation, the believer, trusting in the mercy of the Almighty, is obliged to heed the recommendations and instructions of doctors. The only way to save lives is through vaccination," mufti Gaynutdin stressed.

"I urge us to act wisely - to vaccinate ourselves against coronavirus and thereby set an example for others," the mufti concluded.
