The establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital is a crucial solution to bring an end to violence in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and to foster long-term peace and stable development across the Middle East, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, the head of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation said during the plenary session of the XIX International Muslim Forum.
"Russia has consistently supported and, at the political leadership level, affirmed the principle of establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Such a resolution is pivotal for ending violence, fostering long-term peace, and facilitating stable development across the entire Middle East. Moreover, it contributes to global security by alleviating tensions worldwide," stated Gainutdin.
He acknowledged the current dire situation in the Gaza Strip, where thousands of children, women, and the elderly are victims, with hospitals, schools, mosques, and temples being destroyed. He emphasized that the Middle East conflict must be resolved exclusively through political means, and the persistence of violence will only give rise to new forms of resistance.
"The crisis can only be resolved within the framework of establishing a more just world order based on the principles of multipolarity and the balance of different centers of power. These principles are called upon by the Almighty himself to restrain each other," added the mufti.
