Head of Russian Security Council and Advisor of Qatar Emir discussed security at FIFA World Cup 2022

Secretary of Russia's Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Mohammed al-Misnad, Qatar's National Security Adviser to the Emir, held Russian-Qatari consultations on security issues in Moscow. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the office of the Russian Security Council.


At the meeting, the sides discussed "issues of bilateral cooperation along the lines of special services, law enforcement agencies and military departments."


"Particular attention was paid to issues of ensuring public order during mass events, including in preparation for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar [in 2022], the problems of counter-terrorism and the fight against crime in the information space," the statement said.


The Russian and Qatari sides also exchanged views on regional security issues at the consultations, the Russian Council reported.


The final part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is to be held in Qatar in the fall of 2022. The previous World Cup - in 2018 - was hosted by Russia.
